Are You Acting Like a "Scut Monkey"?
As many of you know, I have referred to a particular quote in my last few posts. This is the quote from my friend, “I don’t know how you feel about men, but it’s the women in your life who empower you”.
This week on Grey’s Anatomy there were two particular scenes impacting my thoughts. These two video clips are all about a woman (Dr. Miranda Bailey) empowering another woman. And, for my male fans, don’t think just because these scenes are about women being empowered you can’t learn from them too!
So, here we go. For all of you who don’t watch the series (although I can’t fathom who wouldn’t) Dr. Alex Karev has a “buddies with benefits” kinda thing going on with Dr. Lexie Grey. Lexie basically lets him totally disrespect her and treat her like crap (boy, this sounds familiar), all the while feeding him information to allow him to look better at his job. On this particular episode, Lexie thinks she’s identified two patients with sepsis and when she tries to tell Karev he blows her off and mocks her. Bailey is a witness to this and once Karev leaves, gives one of the most empowering lessons to Lexie. Take a look:
“Scut Monkey aaaaaaaall day” … Too funny!
However, Lexie does take her advice and later on that evening here is the scene that occurs when she asks Karev for a beer:
“Matricide by Sweet & Low” … That just cracks me up!
So our two lessons learned for today:
Lesson#1: Don’t ever hand your SUPERpower over to a boy/girl because he/she is giving you sex. As Bailey said, “I don’t care how good the sex is, if that’s what it costs, you’re paying too much.”
Lesson#2: If someone else is trying to make you feel you have a problem when they are the ones being nasty, know it’s their problem (“damage”) and NOT yours. As Lexie said, “I am a nice person and I am nice to you, so whatever your damage is you better start to be frickin’ nice to me …”
And that, is that. Don’t ya’ll just love it?

I love how you pulled this together. It's so true, and so many of us do this. We have to learn what our Superpowers are, so as to not give them away/have them stolen/or belittled.
Second, the sex is just never that good unless you're getting my 'Three A's – Attention – Affection – Appreciation!!!
